As UMS is now moving towards an Eco-friendly campus, the students of Financial Management & Banking Programme SBE, UMS has undertaken its first step by setting up their very own (and in fact the school’s very first) green committee named ‘HE06 Green Team’ with the aims to create awareness on healthy green cultures & lifestyles, as well as promoting green activities among all school members. The team was officially launched by Dr. Mohd Rahimie Abdul Karim, the then Deputy Dean (Research and Innovation) of School of Business and Economics (SBE) last april 2013. They kicked off the new semester with its first activity, the Recycling Project whereby tonnes of waste papers, bottles and old magazines were collected from all members of the school. As a result, the team managed to buy one set of recycle bin which is placed at the school main foyer, using cash generated from the activity.
Meanwhile another green activity, the Recycling Bag Design Competition was successfully held in conjunction with HE06 Investment Week last April 2013 with the aim to promote green lifestyle awareness among students. The activity received good response, with 12 teams (5 in a group) from various programmes submitted their form for the competition. Each team were given 1 week to design their very own recycling bag creatively. Marks are given based on work tidiness, creativity, innovation and the ‘green message’ that conveyed by the team to the people from the bag that they have created. The judges were appointed among lecturers from selected programs and staffs of SBE.
More exciting green activities coming your way this new semester 2013/2014. Stay tuned and together we go green!
